Second Crash on U.S. 67 Near Shannon Road Injures One in Chain-Reaction Collision

St. Francois County, MO (June 4, 2025) — A multi-vehicle crash on US 67 near Shannon Road in St. Francois County left one person injured just minutes after an earlier crash on Monday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to the scene north of Shannon Road, where a 75-year-old Farmington man driving a 2004 Toyota 4Runner rear-ended a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 58-year-old Bonne Terre man. The impact forced the Malibu into a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox operated by a 79-year-old St. Louis woman.

Emergency responders reported moderate injuries to the Bonne Terre driver, who was airlifted to Mercy Hospital by Air Evac 8. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities said the Toyota and Malibu were totaled, while the Equinox sustained moderate damage.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate both crashes in the area.

Let Us Be Mindful of Others on the Road

When we drive, we are all part of a larger community of people who share the road. We owe it to each other to drive responsibly, be alert, and respect the rights of others. Safe driving doesn’t just protect you—it protects your family, your neighbors, and even strangers on the road.

Together, we can reduce the number of traffic collisions and make our roads safer for everyone. Let’s drive with care, stay aware, and take responsibility for our actions.

Rear-end and chain-reaction crashes can escalate quickly and lead to serious injuries, especially on busy highways. Drivers should maintain safe following distances and stay alert to sudden traffic changes. If you are injured in a crash, seek medical care immediately and understand your legal options.

Life After a Traffic Accident: What You Should Know

A traffic accident doesn’t truly end when the vehicles are removed from the scene. For many victims, the real impact begins afterward. Physical injuries, emotional distress, and financial burdens can linger long after the crash, making recovery challenging and overwhelming.

Car accident injuries range from minor cuts and bruises to serious conditions like broken bones, spinal injuries, or traumatic brain injuries. Even injuries that seem small at first can develop into long-term health issues. Beyond the physical pain, many people experience anxiety, stress, sleep disturbances, and post-traumatic stress. At the same time, medical bills pile up and missed work leads to lost income, creating additional financial strain.

If someone else’s negligence caused your accident, you may have the right to pursue compensation. This can include coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, pain and suffering, and future care needs. Understanding your rights is crucial to protecting your future.
