Multiple Crashes on Highway 101 Cause Major Delays [Ukiah, CA]

Traffic Stalled after Ukiah Auto Accident on Highway 101

UKIAH, CA (May 29, 2025) – Early Tuesday, multiple crashes on Highway 101 caused major delays in Ukiah.

The crashes began just before 8 a.m. near mile marker 28.2 and stretched from the Highway 20 offramp to the Central Avenue onramp. At least four separate collisions were reported in quick succession, including a multi-vehicle pileup initially thought to involve up to seven vehicles.

Later reports indicated some of those vehicles may have stopped to assist.

CHP logs confirmed the initial collision involved a vehicle striking a deer. A blue Chevy pickup, a Nissan Murano, and a white Honda sedan were among the vehicles involved. One vehicle reportedly sustained major damage after crashing through a barrier.

Emergency medical services transported at least two patients, with a third person later evaluated at the scene. Units from CHP, Cal Fire, and local tow services responded, and multiple tow trucks were deployed to remove damaged vehicles. Debris was scattered across traffic lanes.

Caltrans QuickMap showed heavy congestion in the southbound lanes, with delays affecting northbound traffic due to emergency activity. The incident commander later canceled additional incoming resources, reporting that existing crews could manage the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area while cleanup and recovery operations continue.
