Injuries Reported in Barstow Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 15 near Old State Route 58

BARSTOW, CA (June 24, 2026) – Monday afternoon, a driver was trapped after an alarming multiple semi-truck crash on Interstate 15 near Old State Route 58.

The incident happened just before 3:00 p.m. when a semi-truck rear-ended another big rig on northbound Interstate 15 near the Old State Route 55 off-ramp.

Initial reports indicated a crash involving multiple semi-trucks blocked the right lane of northbound Interstate 15, with one truck possibly striking an overpass before leaving the roadway.

Emergency crews determined that several commercial vehicles were involved in the collision. One driver became trapped inside the cab of a damaged truck and required rescue efforts.

Authorities said one of the vehicles was a tanker carrying approximately 4,500 pounds of toxic material. The tanker was not leaking, but the incident prompted additional safety measures and a response from the San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services.

The California Highway Patrol temporarily closed lanes on northbound Interstate 15 while crews assisted the trapped driver, assessed the tanker, and cleared the wreckage.

Heavy-duty tow trucks were brought in to remove the damaged commercial vehicles. By late afternoon, officials reported that any spill associated with the crash had been contained and cleanup operations were underway. Authorities also confirmed that no waterways were affected.

Traffic was heavily impacted for several hours as crews worked to reopen the freeway. The extent of injuries was not immediately available.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
