73-Year-Old Jogger Dies After Being Struck in Murrieta

Murrieta, CA (September 15, 2026) — On Sunday morning, 73-year-old Nabil Alsalek of Murrieta died after a vehicle struck him while he was jogging in dense fog.

The Murrieta Police Department said Alsalek was jogging near Meadowlark Lane and Whitewood Road shortly before 7 a.m. when a 52-year-old woman driving southbound entered the intersection.

Investigators said Alsalek crossed in front of the vehicle. The driver tried to avoid him but struck him. She stopped immediately, called 911, and did not suffer injuries.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue personnel found Alsalek in critical condition and transported him to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar. He died from his injuries about five hours later.

Police questioned the driver but did not arrest her. Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
