Woman Dies After Pedestrian Crash on West Ajo Way in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (February 3, 2026) — A pedestrian crash on West Ajo Way has turned fatal after 43-year-old Nancy Rivera succumbed to her injuries days later.

According to authorities, the collision happened around 7 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Ajo Way. Rivera was crossing the roadway outside of a marked or implied crosswalk, with another pedestrian following a short distance behind her.

Tucson police confirmed that Rivera died from injuries she suffered when a vehicle struck her while she attempted to cross West Ajo Way on January 27. Officers received confirmation of her death on Saturday.

A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado struck Rivera. Investigators reported that the 19-year-old driver was neither speeding nor impaired at the time of the incident. Rivera was the only person injured in the crash.

Authorities said they have not issued any charges or citations as the investigation concluded.
