Injuries Reported in Odessa Motorcycle Accident on University Boulevard

ODESSA, TX (August 13, 2025) – Saturday morning, Nathaniel Venegas was arrested in crippling motorcycle crash on University Boulevard.

The incident happened at about 2:04 a.m. on University Boulevard and Andrews Highway.

Odessa police said 34-year-old Venegas faced multiple charges, including intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury, collision involving personal injury, possession of marijuana over 4 ounces and under 5 pounds, and evading arrest or detention.

The crash happened around 2:04 a.m. on August 9 at University Boulevard and Andrews Highway. Officers and Odessa Fire Rescue found that a silver Jeep Commander had run a red light and struck a 35-year-old man on a motorcycle.

The rider was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries before being transferred to Lubbock for further treatment. A witness reported seeing the Jeep’s driver, later identified as Venegas, fleeing the scene. They followed him to Judkins Avenue, where officers tried to make contact. Venegas ran but was caught near Barrow Street.

Police said Venegas admitted to hitting the motorcycle. They determined he was intoxicated at the time and found about 4.9 ounces of marijuana in his possession. Records showed he had three prior DWI convictions. He was booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
