LBPD Investigates Deadly Scooter Crash Near Clark Avenue

Long Beach, CA (August 12, 2026) – Nicholas Thompson, 31, of Long Beach, was fatally injured in a traffic crash on Walton Street Monday.

The fatal crash between a scooted and vehicle happened around 10 a.m. on August 10, 5at the 300 block of Walton Street, near Clark Avenue.

Officers located Thompson on the roadway and provided medical aid with help from a good Samaritan.

However, despite life-saving efforts, rescuers declared Thompson deceased at the crash scene.

Investigators said a 2024 Toyota Tundra driven by a 42-year-old man was eastbound on Walton Street when it struck Thompson who was attempting to turn onto westbound Walton Street from Stanbridge Avenue on his scooter.

Apparently, the Tundra driver saw Thompson and attempted to slow down to a stop before the accident.

Police do not consider speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving, as factors in the deadly crash.
