Nicole Mendoza Dies in Overturned Crash on Shadow Mountain Road Near Rivers Edge Road
HELENDALE, CA (February 6, 2019) – A 23-year-old woman and her unborn son were killed in an overturned crash on Shadow Mountain Road near Rivers Edge Road on Jan. 30.
Nicole Mendoza was identified as the 23-year-old Helendale woman operating the 2006 Ford Focus that was heading eastbound on Shadow Mountain Road. Under unknown circumstances, the mother of a 1-year-old lost control and overturned in the open desert around 8:05 a.m.
Officials believe Mendoza, who was carrying her unborn son, was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
