Good Samaritan Killed by Impaired Driver in Spokane Valley Crash on I-90

Spokane Valley, WA (February 15, 2025) – 26-year-old Nigel Sherman of Spokane, tragically lost his life Friday afternoon in a horrific crash on I-90.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the horrific incident happened on Interstate 90.

Reports say that the tragic crash claimed the life of Sherman who had stopped to help another driver.

Authorities say that a westbound vehicle struck a barrier, prompting the driver to pull over and check the damage. A second vehicle, traveling behind, also stopped to offer assistance. While both drivers stood between their cars, a third vehicle crashed into the second car.

The impact forced the second vehicle into its driver, identified as Nigel M. Sherman, throwing him into oncoming eastbound traffic. Emergency responders performed CPR before transporting Sherman to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities also transported the third vehicle’s driver to a nearby hospital.

WSP confirmed that drugs and alcohol contributed to the crash, and charges against the impaired driver are pending. The driver of the first vehicle was unharmed.

Traffic on I-90 experienced major delays due to lane closures in both directions near Evergreen Road. Officials urged drivers to detour onto Evergreen to avoid the crash site.
