64-Year-Old Noel Mendoza-Manlulu Hurt in Fatal Collision on Mitchell Road [Modesto, CA]

Modesto, CA (May 29, 2025) – 64-year-old Noel Mendoza-Manlulu of Modesto and 2 others were hurt in a tragic crash on Mitchell Road.

According to authorities, the fatal collision happened early Wednesday morning around 5:45 a.m. on Mitchell Road, just south of Tenaya Drive.

Reports say that the head-on collision claimed the life of a 53-year-old woman and injured three others.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Sue Crawford of Modesto was driving a 2025 Ford SUV northbound in the No. 1 lane when she veered into the southbound lane for unknown reasons. Her vehicle collided head-on with a 2007 Cadillac SUV driven by Mendoza-Manlulu.

The impact caused major front-end damage to both vehicles and left them partially blocking the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced Crawford dead at the scene.

Two passengers in Crawford’s SUV—a 34-year-old woman from Hughson and a 67-year-old man from Waterford—suffered major injuries and were transported to Memorial Medical Center. Mendoza-Manlulu sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

CHP noted that all involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
