Two Drivers Injured in Benton City Crash on Highland Extension Road
(December 4, 2025) — Norma Rodriguez Corrales and Terrilynn Cramer were hospitalized Tuesday morning after a two-car crash on Highland Extension Road.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:28 a.m. on Highland Extension Road near State Route 225.
Troopers said an 18-year-old Cramer of Benton City was driving a westbound 2011 Audi Q5 when she failed to yield while approaching the highway. A northbound 2019 Honda Accord on SR-225 then crashed into the Audi.
The Honda’s driver, 53-year-old Corrales of Mattawa, suffered injuries and was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Cramer, was also injured and transported to Prosser Memorial Health. Both women were wearing seat belts.
Troopers said both cars were totaled. Drugs or alcohol were not factors, and the cause was linked to a failure to yield.
Focus on the Road
Millions of people take to the roads for work, school, errands, or leisure. While many of these trips are uneventful, accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. Traffic accidents can change lives in an instant, causing physical injuries, emotional trauma, and financial hardship.
Wearing your seatbelt is the simplest and most effective way to protect yourself in an accident. It can reduce the risk of serious injury or death by up to 50%.
Similarly, texting, talking on the phone, eating, or doing anything else that takes your eyes off the road for even a second can have disastrous consequences. Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
Always drive cautiously and be aware of road conditions to prevent accidents. Quick and safe responses can save lives in emergencies.
Even brief moments of inattention can lead to serious injuries. Always yield properly and stay alert at intersections to help prevent crashes.
