Driver Omar Rene Botello Dead in I-10 Collision [El Paso, TX]

El Paso, TX (August 3, 2026) – Omar Rene Botello, 31, and another driver were killed in an I-10 collision early Saturday.

The deadly crash happened before 2 a.m. on EB freeway, near Copia.

Investigators said a white 2014 Hyundai Accent was speeding east on the highway when it crossed all the lanes. The vehicle then swerved right and rear-ended a 2021 Mazda 3.

Omar Rene Botello was attempting to change a tire in his Mazda that was stopped on the shoulder. 

Sadly, Botello was killed at the crash scene.

Rescuers rushed the Hyundai’s driver, Michael Isaiah Sepulveda, 27, to an area hospital, where he later died.

Police said both drivers were from East El Paso.

Investigators said speed and alcohol may have played a role in the deadly collision.
