Police Investigate Crash on Antelope Valley 14 Freeway in Agua Dulce

AGUA DULCE, CA (August 28, 2026)— One person suffered major injuries Friday morning after a big rig overturned in a crash on Antelope Valley (14) Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. just south of Escondido Canyon Road.

A CHP officer confirmed that one person sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities did not immediately release additional information about the injured person’s condition.

The collision prompted officials to issue a SigAlert shortly after 9 a.m. Three northbound lanes were closed while emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to remove the overturned truck.

All lanes reopened at approximately 10:30 a.m., and officials canceled the SigAlert.

A second big rig crash occurred nearby at approximately 9:20 a.m. on the northbound side of the 14 Freeway, about one mile north of the first collision near Agua Dulce Canyon Road.

According to CHP, the second crash forced authorities to close the northbound and southbound carpool lanes. A separate SigAlert remained in effect for at least 90 minutes after that collision, causing significant traffic congestion in both directions.

Authorities have not released information indicating whether the two crashes were related.

Officials also have not announced what caused either collision or whether additional injuries occurred in the second crash.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate both incidents.
