Four Injured in Crash on Highway 60 Near Ellsinore in Carter County
Carter County, MO (December 18, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash on Highway 60 claimed the life of one man and left four others injured on Wednesday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on December 17, along Highway 60, about one mile west of Ellsinore.
Authorities say a 38-year-old man from Alton was driving a 2012 Ford Focus when he attempted a left turn and entered the path of an oncoming 2017 Ram 1500.
The Ford also had a 45-year-old male passenger, also from Alton.
The driver of the Ram 1500, who was not injured, had three passengers: two teenage girls, ages 15 and 16, who sustained minor injuries, and a 60-year-old man who suffered moderate injuries.
All four occupants of the Ram were residents of Ellsinore.
Emergency crews transported the injured to Poplar Bluff Medical Center.
The driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries, while his 45-year-old passenger later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Officials noted that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
