22-Year-Old Redding Man Killed in Suspected DUI Crash Near Anderson

Anderson, CA (September 28, 2026) — Authorities arrested Onyz Young after a 22-year-old Redding man died in a suspected DUI head-on crash late Friday night near Anderson.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision happened around 11:45 p.m. on Dersch Road west of Mossom Lane. A Chevrolet Silverado traveling east crossed into the westbound lane and struck a Nissan Xterra head-on.

The Xterra caught fire after the collision. The 22-year-old driver died at the scene before authorities released his identity pending notification of his family. A 15-year-old Redding boy riding in the Xterra escaped the burning vehicle and suffered a broken wrist and clavicle.

The Silverado driver, identified as 23-year-old Young of Redding, suffered a broken leg and was arrested. Investigators believe alcohol and drugs contributed to the crash.
