27-Year-Old Oswaldo Mazariegos Lopez Dies in Georgia Avenue Hit-and-Run Crash [Hemet, CA]

Hemet, CA (February 29, 2024) On Friday evening, 27-year-old Oswaldo Mazariegos Lopez of Hemet was killed in a horrific hit-and-run crash on Highway 74.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal hit-and-run crash happened at about 10 p.m. on Highway 74, east of Georgia Avenue.

Reports say that a motorist fatally struck Lopez who was walking in the highway’s eastbound lanes, in the unincorporated community of Valle Vista.

Authorities say that 2 other vehicles may have hit Lopez as he lay on the darkened stretch of highway.

Officials say that none of the vehicles stopped to render aid to the fallen victim.

CHP says that Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the fatal pedestrian crash and are searching for the suspect driver who remains at large.
