Owen Cruz Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Douglas Road [Rancho Cordova, CA]

Rancho Cordova, CA (November 10, 2024) On Friday, police arrested 33-year-old Owen Cruz after a fatal crash on Douglas Road that claimed the life of a person.

According to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the deadly crash happened around 9:15 p.m. near the intersection of Borderlands Drive and Douglas Road.

Reports say that the hit-and-run collision in Rancho Cordova left one person dead and injured three others, including two children.

Sac Metro Fire reported that the crash involved two vehicles and a total of four people, all of whom were in the same car. One person, who had to be extricated, succumbed to their injuries. The other three, including two juveniles, were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities have arrested Cruz, also known as Ogan Gencer, in connection with the incident early Saturday morning. Westbound Douglas Boulevard remains closed near Security Park Drive as investigators continue their work.
