Pablo Garcia Lopez Dies in 2-Car Collision on Avenue 58 [Thermal, CA]

Thermal, CA (June 17, 2025) — 26-year-old Pablo Garcia Lopez of Mecca lost his life in a two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning in the community of Thermal.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 58 and Buchanan Street. Investigators said a 2017 Acura RDX was traveling eastbound on Avenue 58 when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a northbound 2009 Toyota Camry.

The force of the collision caused both vehicles to overturn.

Authorities identified the Toyota driver as Lopez. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the Acura sustained major injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment. Officials have not released the driver’s identity.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details were immediately available.
