Passenger Dead in Fiery Vehicle Crash on River Road [Yakima, WA]

Yakima, WA (May 6, 2025) – A 20-year-old male passenger was killed in a fiery vehicle crash on River Road Sunday morning.

The solo-vehicle fatal collision happened past 3 a.m. near the 3400 block area.

Investigators said a a 2016 Infiniti Q50 was traveling west when it failed to navigate a curve and entered a construction zone at 34th Avenue.

The vehicle rolled several times and landed on its roof in a parking lot, where it caught fire.

Four 20-year-old men, all from Yakima, were inside the vehicle when the collision happened. 

A passenger was killed at the scene while the other three occupants were transported to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital. 

The driver and a passenger were later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, with the driver in critical condition with burn injuries. The other transferred passenger incurred serious back injuries. 

The other passenger sustained non life-threatening injuries.

YPD considers speed to be a contributing factor in the fatal accident.

Troopers are still investigating and potential criminal charges are pending.
