Motorcyclist Dies, Passenger Injured in Crash on U.S. 69 in Cherokee County
Cherokee County, TX (August 6, 2025) – A motorcycle crash on Highway 69 in Cherokee County claimed the life of a 51-year-old man and left his passenger injured on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Owen O’Neill was riding northbound with a group of motorcyclists around 12:30 p.m. when his motorcycle began to shake. Witnesses reported seeing O’Neill lose control before laying the bike down. The crash ejected both him and his passenger.
Emergency responders transported both to a hospital in Tyler. O’Neill later died from his injuries, while his passenger received treatment and is expected to recover.
