Passenger Killed, Several Injured in Chain-Reaction Crashes Near Glendale Intersection

Glendale, AZ (March 24, 2026) — A horrific crash on 51st Avenue left a passenger dead, while others were hurt following two connected crashes early Sunday morning.

Authorities reported that the victim was inside a vehicle struck by a speeding sedan near 51st and Glendale avenues. The impact proved fatal for the passenger, whose identity has not yet been released. The driver of that vehicle survived but suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Investigators said the sedan had been driving erratically moments earlier, heading eastbound in westbound lanes along 56th Avenue. A police officer attempted to intervene, but while entering the intersection at 56th and Glendale avenues, the patrol vehicle collided with a pickup truck. Both the officer and the pickup driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The speeding sedan continued on before crashing into the victim’s vehicle, causing the deadly outcome. The driver of the sedan also suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Officials shut down the surrounding intersections as crews investigated the crashes and worked to clear the scene.
