Driver Hospitalized After Crash on I-69 Near Highway 6 in Sugar Land

Sugar Land, TX (August 25, 2025) – A person died following a fatal crash on I-69 between an SUV and a tractor-trailer. 

According to Sugar Land police, the collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m. near Sweetwater Boulevard and Highway 6, shutting down most lanes of I-69.

Police reported that the SUV struck the tractor-trailer at a high rate of speed, with the passenger side colliding directly with the trailer. 

Emergency responders pronounced the SUV’s passenger dead at the scene. 

Paramedics transported the SUV driver to a nearby medical facility for treatment, but their condition remains unknown.

By late Monday night, only one northbound lane of I-69 remained open as investigators continued their work. 

Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area and expect extended delays. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
