Dog Dies, Tuolumne Man Arrested for DUI After Jeep Overturns on Highway 49 in Jamestown

Jamestown, CA (February 12, 2026) – Paul Niblack , 40, of Sonora, was injured following a Highway 49 DUI crash Wednesday.

Troopers said Allan Weathers, 57, of Tuolumne, was driving a northbound 2006 Jeep Wrangler on the freeway, south of Wigwam Road.

A dog suddenly ran into the roadway and was hit by the vehicle driven by Weathers. Officers said the dog died in this accident.

Weathers then lost control of the SUV and it overturned.

Niblack was thrown from the vehicle and sustained minor injuries that were treated at the scene. His passenger, Weathers, also incurred minor injuries and was rushed to Adventist Health Sonora.

Investigators later determined that Weathers was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

Troopers took Weathers to Tuolumne County Jail and booked him on felony charges for DUI causing bodily injury.
