1 Dead in Dallas Pedestrian Crash on 4500 Maple Avenue

DALLAS, TX (August 9, 2026) – Friday night, a person died in a devastating pedestrian accident on 4500 Maple Avenue.

The incident happened just after 11:30 p.m. on 4500 Maple Avenue, where the police found a man in the street with bystanders providing aid.

According to police, a pedestrian died after being struck by an SUV on Maple Avenue and then colliding with a Waymo vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

First responders transported the man to an area hospital, where he later died. Police said he was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the SUV traveling southwest on Maple Avenue. The impact threw him into the path of the Waymo.

The SUV driver stopped and cooperated with police. The Waymo also stopped, and the company said it was working with first responders. Waymo said the vehicle detected the pedestrian and slowed down, but the man struck the left rear of the vehicle after being hit by the SUV. The Waymo vehicle was unoccupied at the time.

The victim’s identity has not been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
