72-Year-Old Pedestrian Suffers Critical Injuries After SUV Collision in Menifee
Menifee, CA (June 28, 2025) — On Thursday afternoon, a 72-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after an SUV struck him in a frightening pedestrian accident on Antelope Road in Menifee.
The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Antelope Road and Chambers Avenue. Police said the man was crossing Antelope Road outside a marked crosswalk when a southbound 2025 Kia Telluride approached and hit him.
The impact threw the pedestrian onto the roadway, leaving him unconscious. Emergency responders transported him to a regional trauma center, where he remained in critical condition as of Friday.
The SUV driver stopped at the scene, and witnesses called 911. Investigators found no signs that the driver was impaired, and no arrest was made. Authorities continue to investigate the collision and are asking anyone with information to contact the Menifee Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
Stop Pedestrian Accidents
To help avoid pedestrian accidents, drivers and pedestrians alike should be increasingly vigilant and watch out for each other. Drivers have to make sure to slow down in crowded areas, watch for people crossing and not get distracted, like by texting.
Pedestrians should cross only where they are supposed to, heed the traffic lights and attempt to establish eye contact with drivers before they step off the curb. If you’re walking at night, wear something bright or reflective so you’re easier to see. Do not walk and use a phone, or wear headphones, on the road.
Pedestrians and drivers share the responsibility of keeping roadways safe. Drivers should remain alert for people crossing the street, while pedestrians should use marked crosswalks whenever possible and stay aware of approaching traffic. Taking these precautions can help reduce the risk of serious crashes.
