Horrific Pedestrian Accident on California Avenue Injures Man [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (March 19, 2025) – A man suffered major injuries after two vehicles struck him Saturday evening in a horrific pedestrian accident on California Avenue.

According to the CHP, the pedestrian collision happened near Exchange Street in east Bakersfield at around 7:42 p.m.

Reports say that an 18-year-old driving a 2007 Kia Rio eastbound on California Avenue hit the man as he attempted to cross the roadway. Moments later, a Honda Odyssey traveling behind the Kia struck the pedestrian a second time.

Emergency responders transported the injured man to Kern Medical for treatment. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
