Houston, TX (March 19, 2026) — A man in his 30s lost his life Monday night after a pedestrian accident on East Freeway in Houston.

According to authorities, the fatal crash happened around 9:21 p.m. in the 15000 block of the freeway. When deputies arrived, emergency responders had already pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that the man was walking in an inside westbound lane when a black Chevrolet Suburban hit him. The driver initially stopped but later left the area. Authorities said the driver eventually contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and admitted involvement. Deputies later met with and interviewed the driver.

Officials do not believe alcohol played a role in the incident. While people are known to cross the freeway in that area, authorities have not confirmed whether that applied to the victim in this case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
