Woman Killed While Crossing I-10 in West El Paso

El Paso, TX (February 14, 2026) — A 60-year-old Juarez woman lost her life Tuesday evening after tragic pedestrian accident on Interstate 10 in West El Paso.

According to authorities, the collision happened around 6:28 p.m. along I-10 West near Transmountain Road, close to Mile Marker 8.

Investigators determined that a 60-year-old woman from Juarez, Mexico, attempted to cross the westbound lanes when a 2007 Kia Spectra traveling west hit her.

Emergency responders provided life-saving aid at the scene, but the woman succumbed to her injuries.

The crash prompted the temporary closure of all westbound lanes of I-10 at Transmountain for several hours, creating significant traffic delays. The roadway reopened around 2 a.m. the following morning, as reported by the Texas Department of Transportation.

The Special Traffic Investigation Unit with the El Paso Police Department is handling the case, which remains under investigation. Authorities have not released additional details.

Officials noted this incident marks the ninth traffic-related fatality in El Paso so far in 2026.
