Los Angeles, CA (May 18, 2025) — A pedestrian lost their life early Saturday morning after tragic accident on Interstate 5 in East Los Angeles.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 3:15 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Eastern Avenue.

Authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity, age, or gender.

The crash prompted a SigAlert that closed lanes one through three for several hours while traffic continued through the two far-right lanes. Officials lifted the alert around 6:35 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
