Laclede County, MO (May 18, 2025) — A pedestrian suffered serious injuries Wednesday night after a frightening accident on State Route W in Laclede County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. near the intersection of State Route W and Norton Road. Troopers said a 2025 Kia K5 was traveling westbound when a 30-year-old man entered the roadway and was hit by the vehicle.

Stop Pedestrian Accidents

To help avoid pedestrian accidents, drivers and pedestrians alike should be increasingly vigilant and watch out for each other. Drivers have to make sure to slow down in crowded areas, watch for people crossing and not get distracted, like by texting.

Pedestrians should cross only where they are supposed to, heed the traffic lights and attempt to establish eye contact with drivers before they step off the curb. If you’re walking at night, wear something bright or reflective so you’re easier to see. Do not walk and use a phone, or wear headphones, on the road.

Pedestrians and drivers should remain especially cautious on roadways at night when visibility is reduced. Staying alert and using designated crossing areas can help prevent serious accidents.
