1 Dead in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on 5600 Auburn Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 19, 2026) – Friday night, a person died in a devastating pedestrian crash on 5600 Auburn Street.

The incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian happened at about 7:10 p.m. in the 5600 Auburn Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man in the roadway with major injuries. Medical personnel later pronounced him dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found the pedestrian had just exited a bus and stepped into the roadway in front of an eastbound vehicle on Auburn Street.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity at a later time.
