Pedestrian Crash on Highway 2 Kills Woman [Monroe, WA]

26-Year-Old Woman Killed by King County Sheriff’s Vehicle on Highway 2

Monroe, WA (December 11, 2025) — A 26-year-old woman died Tuesday morning after a frightening pedestrian crash on Highway 2.

According to Monroe Police, the victim was struck by an unmarked King County Sheriff’s Office vehicle on Highway 2, prompting a multi-hour closure of the westbound lanes.

Authorities responded to the scene just after 6:30 a.m. near the 18800 block of US-2. Preliminary reports indicate the woman was hit in an uncontrolled section of the highway. She was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver, a King County Sheriff’s Office employee, is cooperating with investigators. The vehicle has been impounded for further examination. Monroe Police, with support from the Washington State Patrol, are leading the ongoing investigation.

Traffic was detoured onto Blueberry Lane Southeast while authorities worked at the scene for approximately three hours.
