Woman Dies in Northwest Harris County Crash; Deputy Injured During Investigation
Harris County, TX (June 13, 2025) — A woman lost her life Thursday night after a horrific crash on Highway 249. A vehicle struck her while she attempted to cross the highway near Old Bammel North Houston Road in northwest Harris County.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Investigators said the woman was crossing the roadway outside a designated crosswalk when a southbound vehicle hit her. The driver initially left the area but later returned to the scene.
Emergency responders transported the woman to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Authorities reported that the driver showed no signs of impairment and has not been charged.
While deputies investigated the fatal crash, a separate vehicle struck a deputy who was working at the scene. The deputy suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital, where they are expected to recover.
Officials arrested the second driver on a possession of a controlled substance charge. Investigators said impairment was not a factor in that collision.
Sweet Lawyers extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the woman who lost her life in this tragic incident. We hope they find comfort, strength, and support during this difficult time.
Finding Support and Accountability After a Sudden Loss
Losing someone you love in an unexpected accident can turn your world upside down. Along with the deep emotional pain, families are often faced with practical and financial concerns—medical bills, funeral arrangements, and the sudden loss of emotional and financial support. These challenges can feel overwhelming when you’re already grieving.
During times like these, it’s important to know that help is available. A wrongful death claim may provide a path toward accountability and financial stability, helping families protect their future while honoring their loved one’s memory.
Through a wrongful death claim, families may be able to seek compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Medical care related to the final injuries
- Lost income and future financial support
- Emotional pain and loss of companionship
This process isn’t just about financial recovery—it’s about accountability. When negligence, reckless behavior, or impaired driving contributes to a fatal accident, holding the responsible party accountable can help bring justice and reduce the risk of similar tragedies happening to others.
While nothing can ever replace the life that was lost, pursuing justice can offer families a sense of closure and peace. It’s one meaningful way to honor a loved one’s life and legacy.
