Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Pacific Avenue in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (September 14, 2026) — A pedestrian died Sunday evening after three vehicles struck him in a crash on Pacific Avenue north of Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers responded to the reported collision at approximately 7:25 p.m. and found a man lying in the roadway.

Police officers provided aid until Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived.

Emergency personnel transported the pedestrian to a hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity pending confirmation and notification of his family.

According to the preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was walking east across Pacific Avenue outside a marked crosswalk. Police said he stepped into the roadway from the center median when an unidentified white SUV struck him.

Investigators said an unidentified dark-colored sedan then struck the pedestrian. A third vehicle, identified as a 2021 Jaguar, also hit him.

The driver of the Jaguar stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the drivers of the first two vehicles did not remain at the scene as required.

Investigators said speed, distracted driving, and impairment do not currently appear to have contributed to the collision.

The Long Beach Police Department continues to investigate the fatal crash and is seeking additional information about the vehicles and drivers involved.
