Chico, CA (May 26, 2025) — A man sustained major injuries Saturday night after a pedestrian crash on Panama Avenue and Esplanade in Chico.

According to the Chico Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. when the pedestrian reportedly stepped into traffic and was hit by a passing vehicle. A police officer who witnessed the crash, along with an off-duty EMT nearby, immediately began providing medical assistance until paramedics arrived.

Emergency crews transported the injured man to Enloe Hospital. Authorities said he is expected to survive.

Police reported that the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials also stated there were no signs of impairment involving the driver.

The incident remains under investigation.
