Pedestrian Injured After Being Hit by Vehicle in Foggy Conditions in Yelm
Thurston County, WA (December 4, 2025) — A pedestrian was injured Sunday night after an auto-pedestrian crash on State Route 507.
According to the Southeast Thurston Fire Authority, the frightening incident happened around 7 p.m. on the intersection of State Route 507 and Vail Road Southeast in Yelm.
Crews arrived to find an adult male down in the roadway. Medics provided immediate care and transported him by Advanced Life Support to Providence St. Peter Hospital. Officials say his injuries were not life-threatening.
Investigators report that the man had been walking along the roadside when a driver attempted to turn right onto Vail Road and hit him. Fire officials noted that heavy traffic, darkness, and thick fog created challenging conditions at the time of the crash.
Authorities thanked nearby drivers for using caution as emergency crews worked and reminded the public to slow down and stay alert during darker, low-visibility winter months.
Stay Alert, Stay Safe, Pedestrian Safety Matters
Every year, thousands of pedestrians are injured or killed in traffic accidents. Whether you’re walking to school, work, or just taking a stroll, it’s important to stay alert. Always use crosswalks, obey traffic signals, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing. Drivers—slow down and stay focused, especially in busy areas. One moment of distraction can change a life forever.
Let’s all do our part to make streets safer for everyone.
When visibility drops, even a moment of inattention can lead to serious injuries. Please drive slowly, stay alert, and give pedestrians and emergency crews extra space—especially during foggy winter evenings.
