WELD COUNTY, CO (September 29, 2026) – Friday night, Grant Clowers was arrested after a devastating pedestrian crash on Weld County Road 49.

The incident happened at about 9:15 p.m. on Weld County Road 49, south of Weld County Road 40 near LaSalle.

A 46-year-old Texas man was killed after being struck by a pickup truck while collecting warning triangles from a disabled semi-truck on Weld County Road 49, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

CSP said a 2014 Kenworth semi-truck with a trailer was broken down on the west shoulder and partially blocking a southbound lane. A service truck was parked behind it with its amber warning lights activated.

The semi-truck driver was collecting the warning triangles when he was struck by the front passenger side of a southbound Dodge Ram. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ram driver stopped just ahead of the disabled semi-truck and was arrested. CSP identified him as 57-year-old Grant Clowers, who faces charges of vehicular homicide and driving while ability impaired.

CSP initially reported that the victim was associated with the service truck but later clarified that he was the semi-truck driver.
