Pedestrian Killed in Victorville Hit-and-Run Crash on 15 Freeway near Bear Valley Road

 
VICTORVILLE, CA (July 18, 2019) — A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after a hit-and-run accident on 15 Freeway on Wednesday, July 17.
 
The accident happened on the west shoulder of southbound 15 Freeway, north of Bear Valley Road. According to a CHP statement, at about 3:10 a.m., officers from the CHP Victorville area rushed to the crash site.
 
Officers discovered the pedestrian lying on the shoulder with major injuries near a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The Elantra had some damage to the driver’s side. An investigation determined that the pedestrian was standing outside the vehicle when an unknown car struck him and fled the scene.
 
First responders rushed the pedestrian to Desert Valley Medical Center where he later died. However, the San Bernardino County coroner has not yet identified the man.
 
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
 
Evidence found at the scene showed that the suspect vehicle was possibly a large commercial type vehicle. It had damage to its right side, including its right-side wheels and tires, according to the report.
 
The crash is still currently under investigation at this time. CHP officials urge the public to be vigilant if they see a commercial-type vehicle that could have been involved in the hit-and-run accident. Any person with information can also contact the CHP Victorville area office at 760-241-1186.
