Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Highway 273 in Anderson

Anderson, CA (February 12, 2026) – A man died after two vehicles struck him in a crash on Highway 273 on Wednesday night, according to the Anderson Police Department.

APD said officers responded at about 9:36 p.m. to the northbound lane of Highway 273 just north of Briggs Street.

When officers arrived, emergency crews were already performing life-saving measures on the unidentified male pedestrian.

Investigators said the man had been walking southbound along the northbound shoulder north of Briggs Street.

APD described him as jumping in and out of traffic before two separate vehicles struck him.

Police confirmed Thursday morning that the man died at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.

APD said officers did not determine either driver to be impaired at the time of the crash.

Police reported that both drivers cooperated with the investigation, and officers released them from the scene.
