Police Investigate Semi-Truck Crash on Gardena Street

GARDENA, CA (July 31, 2026)— A driver struck a pedestrian in a crash on a Gardena street after a semi-truck collided into a fire hydrant and caused flooding on July 23. Video captured the incident as it unfolded.

A semi-truck driver reportedly backed into the hydrant, sending a powerful stream of water into the air. Water quickly spread across the roadway and flooded nearby businesses.

The owner of Elite Auto Collision said one of his employees ran across the street during the flooding. A driver attempting to travel through the heavy spray then struck the employee.

The employee did not suffer serious injuries, according to the report.

Although the pedestrian avoided major harm, the flooding caused extensive damage to the collision repair shop. Water damaged the building and equipment, forcing the business to close while crews complete repairs.

Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

Injured Pedestrians Deserve Compassionate Support After a Sudden Collision

A pedestrian accident can happen without warning, especially when flooding, damaged infrastructure, or other hazardous conditions disrupt normal traffic.

When unusual circumstances contribute to a collision, several forms of evidence may help explain what occurred. Video recordings, witness accounts, photographs, business surveillance footage, police reports, vehicle information, and medical records may all become relevant.
