Police Search the Driver After Hit-and-Run Crash on Western Avenue in South Los Angeles

South Los Angeles, CA (January 26, 2026) – Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a hit-and-run driver who critically injured a pedestrian after a crash on Western Avenue last week.

The incident occurred on Monday, January 22, when a silver Honda Odyssey traveling along Western Avenue failed to yield at an unmarked crosswalk at 45th Place. 

The vehicle struck a 66-year-old man, leaving him with serious injuries. 

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the driver did not stop to assist and fled the scene.

Emergency responders transported the injured pedestrian to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators say the suspect vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on 42nd Place from Western Avenue. 

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward.

The LAPD reminds all motorists involved in collisions that they are legally required to stop, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to provide identification. 

Pedestrians are also advised to exercise caution when navigating intersections and roadways.
