Police Investigate Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Church Avenue in Ridgecrest

Ridgecrest, CA (January 30, 2025) – Police investigate an auto-pedestrian crash on Church Avenue.

A slow-speed vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash occurred at the intersection of Church Avenue and Abagail Street around 4:20 p.m. 

Thursday. A Chevrolet truck, turning the corner at a slow speed, struck a woman who was walking a dog across the intersection.

Although the pedestrian initially declined transportation to the hospital, she later decided to seek medical evaluation for precautionary reasons, concerned that a hidden injury might surface after the shock subsided.

Emergency responders took her to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital for assessment.

Ridgecrest Police Department Chief Mario Ysit noted that the sun’s glare in the driver’s eyes may have contributed to the incident.
