STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (September 2, 2026)– A man died after a vehicle struck him in a crash on Highway 99 early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 1:34 a.m. south of Carpenter Road.

According to CHP, the man was walking or running from the center median toward the east shoulder when he entered the path of a Kia traveling northbound at approximately 65 mph.

The Kia struck the pedestrian, who suffered fatal injuries. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities have not publicly released the man’s identity.

The driver of the Kia was not injured in the collision, according to CHP.

Investigators also reported that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
