TUCSON, AZ (August 6, 2026)— A pedestrian died after being run over by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in a crash at North 6th Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard, according to the Tucson Police Department.

Police said the crash occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on August 5.

Investigators determined that the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling on Speedway Boulevard when the vehicle ran over a pedestrian who was lying in the roadway in the eastbound median lane.

Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Authorities are still working to determine whether another vehicle may have struck the pedestrian before the Chevrolet Malibu ran over the individual. Police have not released the pedestrian’s identity or additional information about the circumstances that led to the person being in the roadway.

The Tucson Police Department said investigators determined that the Malibu driver was not impaired at the time of the crash.
