Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Broadway in Eureka

Eureka, CA (February 13, 2026) – A pedestrian died Friday afternoon after a vehicle struck them in a crash on Broadway in Eureka, according to the Eureka Police Department.

Police said the collision happened around 4:30 p.m. along Broadway between West Wabash Avenue and West 14th Street.

Emergency crews blocked traffic in both directions as officers worked the scene and began their investigation.

EPD confirmed the incident was fatal but had not released the pedestrian’s identity or additional details about the driver as of the initial report.

Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the investigation continued.

An update noted drivers could use Waterfront Drive as an alternative route, accessible from West Del Norte to the south and 1st Street to the north.

In a later update, EPD Commander Wayne Rabang identified the involved vehicle as a cabover RV.

Police also said witnesses reported—and Commander Rabang confirmed—that the pedestrian had a dark-colored dog on a leash at the time of the collision.

The dog reportedly ran from the scene, and its whereabouts were unknown.
