Woman Dead After Crash on Florin Road in Sacramento
Sacramento, CA (April 17, 2026) – A woman died early Friday morning after a vehicle struck her in a crash on Florin Road east of French Road in Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said the crash happened at about 6:08 a.m. Friday, Sacramento communications received a report of a pedestrian in the roadway.
Officers arrived at about 6:15 a.m. and found the woman in the westbound lanes of Florin Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said a male driver was traveling westbound on Florin Road when he saw a person in the roadway.
According to CHP, the driver tried to brake but could not stop in time and struck the pedestrian.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators also said they do not suspect alcohol played a role in the collision.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the pedestrian after notifying next of kin.
The investigation remains ongoing.
