Bakersfield, CA (July 9, 2026) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night in a crash on Panorama Drive, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 9:18 p.m. on July 9, 2026, to the 1100 block of Panorama Drive following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian in the roadway with severe injuries. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police said the driver, a woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

According to the preliminary investigation, the woman was driving westbound on Panorama Drive when her vehicle struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway and not within a marked crosswalk.

Investigators said impairment does not appear to have been a factor in the collision. However, authorities continue to investigate whether speed contributed to the fatal crash.
