Two Injured in Crash on Earth City Expressway 

St. Louis County, MO (February 4, 2026) — A police officer and a civilian driver were hospitalized Wednesday morning following a crash on Earth City Expressway while the officer was responding to an emergency call.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, the crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. near the intersection of Earth City Expressway and Rider Trail South. 

An officer from the Central County Precinct was traveling southbound with emergency lights, and the siren was activated when her patrol vehicle struck a civilian vehicle that reportedly failed to yield at the intersection.

Police said the officer was conscious and alert at the scene and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The civilian driver was also taken to the hospital, initially reported with life-threatening injuries.

Later Wednesday afternoon, authorities provided an update stating that the officer had been released from the hospital. 

The civilian driver remains hospitalized in stable condition and is now reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic delays were reported in the area as crews investigated the scene. 

Drivers were encouraged to seek alternate routes while the roadway was partially restricted.
