Redlands Police Officer Hospitalized after Car Accident in Redlands

 
REDLANDS, CA (February 15, 2019) – On Friday morning, a Redlands Police officer was injured in a car crash on Lugonia Avenue.
 
According to Redlands Police Department, the accident occurred around 3:00 AM near Church Street.
 
As per reports, the officer was responding to a report of a man with a gun when he lost control of the patrol vehicle and struck a power pole. Due to the impact, it sheared the pole. Due to this, there was a power outage in the area.
 
First responders arrived at the scene and claimed the officer suffered major injuries, including broken bones. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital. His current medical condition is unclear at this time.
 
His identity of the police officer involved has not yet been released to the public.
 
Due to the crash on Lugonia Avenue, the surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation. Authorities have since reopened the avenue. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
