Two Passengers Seriously Injured After Fatal Crash on State Route 190 in Tulare County

TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 23, 2026)— A solo-vehicle crash on State Route 190 killed a Porterville man and seriously injured two passengers early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 5:25 a.m. Sunday at State Route 190 and Westwood Street.

CHP said a 29-year-old Porterville man drove a 1999 Honda Accord southbound on Westwood Street, north of State Route 190, at an unknown speed. 

For reasons still under investigation, the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Westwood Street and SR 190.

The Honda continued into the intersection and crashed head-on into a concrete K-rail inside a highway construction zone, CHP said.

Emergency medical personnel and CHP officers responded to the scene. The driver died at the crash site.

Two passengers, identified only as a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Porterville, suffered serious injuries. 

Emergency crews transported them to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia for treatment.

CHP said alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to have played a role in the crash.

Authorities have not released the identities of the driver or passengers.

The crash remains under investigation.
